LAURA ADAMS

Laura Adams, 94, of Falls City, passed away April 6, 2016. She was born Nov. 24, 1921 south of Rulo on the Iowa Tribal Reservation to the late Jacob and Evelyn (Leary) Nanomantube.

Laura was raised south of Rulo and graduated from Falls City High School in 1940. On July 6, 1942 she married John L. Adams, Sr. at Falls City. He passed away Oct. 10, 1979. When married, the couple established their home in Falls City. During World War II, she moved to California and served the war effort by working in an air plane factory. Following her husband’s discharge, they moved back to Falls City.

She worked at Steinbrink’s Candling Eggs, then at Frontier Homes, Woodings-Verona and finally at Falls City Hospital in the physical therapy department. She retired in 1996.

Laura was a member of First Christian Church and the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska.

She is survived by a daughter, Vickie Adams, and her husband Randy Peterson, of Cumberland, IA; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by  her parents; husband; son, John, Jr.; grandson, Daniel Adams; and brothers, Thurman and Wayne Nanomantube.

Services were held Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment at Maple Cemetery, Salem.
