Loretta Barber, 72, of Rulo, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at St. Louis, MO. She was born on Dec. 6, 1943 at Denver to Faye (Cordova) and Ben Maes.
She married Gerald Barber on July 14, 1968 at Omaha.
Loretta was raised at Denver and graduated from North High School in 1963. She then attended cosmetology school at Denver and later worked in beauty shops and then for the May D&F department store.
When married, the couple lived in Omaha until moving to rural Hiawatha, KS, and then to Rulo. She worked as a cook at The Bridge Café and Ye Old Time Saloon, and was a homemaker, as well. She also cut hair at home for family and friends.
Loretta was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Rulo and the Altar Society.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald, of Rulo; children, Deborah (Tom) Grzywa, of St. Louis, MO, Scott and Jeremy Barber, both of Rulo, Lisa Barber of Highland, KS; mother, Faye Cordova; brother, Ben Maes, of Brighton, CO; sisters, Phyllis Leyba and Virginia Maes, both of Brighton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; and a sister, Bernita Maes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. David Oldham officiating. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. A parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dorr & Clark Funeral Home, Falls City, and the family will receive friends following the rosary.
