HELEN RUTH DECKINGER

Helen Ruth Deckinger, 95, of Falls City, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015. She was born Aug. 25, 1919 at Falls City to the late Charles and Mae (Thompson) Kratz.

Helen Ruth was raised at Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1937. Following graduation she took employment with Woolworth Department Store and worked there until marrying Ervin Deckinger on Feb. 12, 1948 and becoming a homemaker. In 1970, she became employed at Richardson Stationary Store until 1982 when she retired and helped take care of her grandchildren. Ervin passed away June 19, 1995.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the former Immanuel Methodist Church, where she was an active member until it’s closing.

Helen Ruth is survived by a son, Charles (Jan) Deckinger, of Falls City; sister, Betty Gruber, of Salem; grandchildren: Adam (Jessica) Deckinger, of Kansas City, Nathan Deckinger, of Lincoln, adn Jennifer (Marty) Pagnano, of Lincoln; great-grandchildren: Ava, Elyse and Isaiah Deckinger

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Billy Kratz; sisters, Grace Marmet and Dorothy Karsten.

Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Falls City, with Rev. John Hogue officiating. Interment at Steele Cemetery. Open visitation and viewing will begin on Sunday afternoon at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, Falls City.
