DONALD W. YOESEL

Donald W. Yoesel, 84, of Stella, passed away on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at Auburn. He was born April 3, 1930 at Rulo to the late Walter and Edna (Helfenbein) Yoesel.

Don was raised in the Shubert area and graduated from Shubert High School in 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Oct. 25, 1951 at Omaha and served in Korea, earning the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, ROK Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Service Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on Oct. 28, 1953 at Camp Carson, CO.

Following his discharge, he returned to Stella and married Gale Shineflew on July 24, 1955 in Stella. The couple lived in various places until settling in Stella in 1964, where he managed the Stella Elevator for 33 years before retiring.

Don was a member of the Stella Community Church, VFW and Harvey Mann American Legion Post both of Shubert.

He’s survived by his wife, Gale, of Stella; daughters, Deanna Lewis, of Wichita, KS, and Darla Yoesel, of Lincoln; brother, Alvin Yoesel, of Seminole, OK; sister, Glenita (Harold) Thomson, of Wichita; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald, Jr.; brothers, Gilbert and Harlan.

His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015 at the Stella Community Church, with Pastor Kyle Paustian and Wayne Shafer officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Harvey Man American Legion Post and Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard. Open visitation will begin on Monday afternoon at Dorr & Clark Funeral Home, of Falls City.
