DORIS (CHANDLER) ODOM


Doris LaVonne (Chandler) Odom, 90, of Omaha, formerly of Falls City, passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2014 at Risen Son Christian Village in Council Bluffs, IA. She was born in Shubert on Nov. 24, 1924 to Edith Belle (Harris) Chandler and Carl Bakker Chandler.  

Doris was baptized at the First Christian Church in Shubert and attended school in Shubert until they moved to FC when she was seven years old.  

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Kangior, John M. Odom, Margo (Jim) McFarland, and Nancy Jo (Tom) Haley, all of Omaha, and Richard (Teresa) Odom, of  Warner Robins, GA; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Odom; sisters, Lyla Robidoux and Phyllis Chandler; and daughter, Gayle Renner.

A visitation brunch with family will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at the D.A.V Hall, 4515 ‘F’ St., Omaha. A Christian Memorial Service will follow at 1 p.m. at Heafey, Heafey, Hoffman, Dworak & Cutler Funeral Home in Omaha.
