MARILYN A. SHIELDS

Marilyn A. Shields, 74, of Falls City, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2014 at Falls City. She was born Aug. 31, 1939 at Severance, KS, to the late Alva and Lela (Denton) Lewis.

On June 19, 1960 she married Robert “Bob” Shields at Hiawatha, KS. He passed away Jan. 27, 2009.

Marilyn was raised in the Highland, KS, area and graduated from the Hiawatha High School in 1957, and attended the St. Luke’s nursing school in Kansas City, graduating in 1959. The couple established their home in Falls City when married and lived in Fremont, then O’Neill, moving back to FC in 1969 where she was a Registered Nurse at the FC Hospital, Midland Villa Nursing Home and also worked doing in-home health care. She retired in 2003. She volunteered at Sacred Heart High School in the reading program. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Falls City and the Rachel Group of her church.

Marilyn is survived by her sons, Robbie, of Falls City, and David (Jamie), of Osawatomie, KS; daughter, Michelle (Rick) Ramer, of Stella; brothers, Vernon (Bonnie) Lewis, of Scottsdale, AZ, Bob (Pat) Lewis, of Manhattan, KS; sisters, Shirley (Ron) Attebury, of Fresno, CA, Luella (Don) Scott, of Kansas City, Mo; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a daughter, Angela Shields.

Her funeral was held Monday, Nov. 10, 2014 at First Christian Church with Rev. Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment in Steele Cemetery. The family received friends on Sunday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to the church.
