PHYLLIS CUDNEY

Phyllis Cudney, 79, Hutchinson, KS (formerly of Falls City), passed away Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014 at Hutchinson. She was born on March 15, 1935 at Falls City to the late Lloyd and Madge (Frazer) Law. 

On June 24, 1953 she married Orville H. Cudney, Jr. and they were later divorced. Phyllis was raised in Falls City and moved to Kansas City when she was 16, graduating from Northeast (Kansas City, MO) High School in 1952. When married the couple established their home in FC and lived various places but mostly lived in FC. She worked for the FC Journal and the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office. Following her divorce she attended SE Community College and became an LPN; she then attended Tulsa Junior College and became a Registered Nurse in 1987. She worked in Choteau Medical Clinic and then moved to Lansing, KS, and was the charge nurse at Kansas State Penitentiary. She then worked at Hiawatha Community Hospital and also Midland Villa Nursing Home at FC. She moved to Hutchinson, where she worked at Mennonite Manor.

 Phyllis is survived by her sons, Glenn (Carlene) Cudney, of FC, and Dave Cudney and his friend Betse Stuart, of Emigrant, MT; daughters, Karen (Robert) Brown, of FC, Rhonda Reichardt, of Omaha; Linda Marrs and her friend Leonard Witt, of FC; brother, Don (Gertsie) Law, of Plano, TX; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bob Law; and a sister, Charlotte Shipman.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, with Rev. Andrew Chavanek officiating. Inurnment will be in Steele Cemetery.
