MARY A. ‘PEAR’ LANGLEY

Mary Arline “Pear” Langley, 59, of Falls City, died early Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln. Pear was born Oct. 27, 1954 at Falls City, one of 10 children of Eldon and Mary K. Rhoads Fryer.

She was raised in Falls City, where she attended school, graduating from Falls City High School in 1973. She continued her education and graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in St. Joseph, MO, as a registered nurse. She spent most of her working life as registered nurse at Hiawatha Community Hospital until retiring in 1982. Pear’s interests included: Her koala bear collection, Nebraska Husker football, spending time with family and friends, and was very proud and happy to babysit her many nieces and nephews, and also, for her friend’s two sets of twin boys, all were her “children.”

Mary was a former Camp Fire Girl, Rainbow Girl, and member of Order of Eastern Star.

She was married to Steve Langley on March 16, 1990 at Hiawatha. They made Falls City their home all of their married life. He died May 14, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Thelma Douglas, Jeanine Strecker, Jerald Fryer and Rebecca May Fryer.

Survivors include siblings, Elaine (Ben) Hutson and Keith Fryer, both of Lander, WY, Nancy Rowland, of Worland, WY, Carol (Tom) Voyles, of Nashville, KS, Lynn Fryer, of Wausau, WI, and Marcia (Randy) Blanton, of Hiawatha; many nieces and nephews.

Services are planned for 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Cheryl Mishler will officiate. Cremation will follow with inurnment at a later date. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
