Margaret L. Lorenzen, 92, of Lincoln, went to Heaven on July 31, 2014. Margaret was an eternal optimist who always said “The sun will come up tomorrow.”
Margaret was born on Nov. 14, 1921, in Sabetha, KS. She married Bill Lorenzen in 1944, residing in Kansas City, MO, where their only daughter, Johanna, was born in 1960. They moved to Falls City in 1963 and made their home there so she could care for her mother, Maude Wiar.
Margaret was the Executive Director of the Falls City Housing Authority, offering low-income housing to the elderly and families, with whom she built special caring relationships. She also served as the President of the state housing association. She and Bill moved to Lincoln in 1986 where she spent several years managing Van Dorn Villa retirement community. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her daughter’s family, especially her two granddaughters.
Margaret is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jo and Steve Sheets, of Lincoln; and her granddaughters, Christina Sheets and Andrea Sheets, both of Lincoln.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, Aug. 4, at Southwood Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with Pastor Michael Ryan officiating.
Margaret was a member of Southwood Lutheran and a past member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Lincoln, and St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Falls City, where she spent many years serving in leadership roles.
