Big Red Recruiting Report — 4/22/14

Adding to the Class
Nebraska continues to roll along with 2015 recruiting, adding four players since the beginning of April. QB Kevin Dillman (6-4/205) of Denton, Texas, OL Michael Decker (6-4/290) of Omaha North, DE Daishon Neal (6-7/240) of Omaha Central and WR Spencer Tears (6-3/170) of Oak Lawn, Ill. all chose NU.

Dillman, Decker and Tears are all 3-star prospects while Neal is unranked according to Rivals.com. 247Sports.com lists Dillman with four stars and the others with three. Tears has a strong chance to move up to four stars, while Neal should be a low 3-star prospect once Rivals evaluates his film and sees him at camp.

Rivals ranks NU’s class eighth nationally, while the 247 Sports composite lists them ninth. With limited numbers it will be difficult to stay in the top ten through Signing Day in February, but the top 20-25 is definitely within reach.

Nebraska struggled this spring to develop depth at the defensive end position. Randy Gregory and Greg McMullen seem entrenched on the top group, however junior college transfer Joe Keels and redshirt freshman A.J. Natter battled injuries and inconsistency all spring. Those four are the only scholarship players at the position. Redshirt junior walk-on Jack Gangwish out of Wood River, Neb. was the fifth guy this spring.
