Walter Honea

Walter Honea, 71, of Falls City, passed away March 9, 2014 at St. Joseph, MO. He was born Feb. 12, 1943 at Falls City to Leila (Larkins) Honea and the late John Honea.

Walter served in the Nebraska National Guard, Company B at Falls City.

On June 6, 1970 he married Jenny Moore at Falls City.

Walter was raised at Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School in 1961. Following graduation he joined the Nebraska National Guard Company B and worked at Frontier Homes and delivered trailers for John Sipes. He lived in Missouri from 1969 until moving back to Falls City in 1970 and he worked for Elliott’s Meat Company, Kosters, Missouri Beef Packers, Edde Motors, MCH Auto and Casino White Cloud, retiring in 2012. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Hiawatha, KS branch.

Walter is survived by his wife, Jenny of Falls City; children, Brenda Reuter. of Falls City, Dawn Honea-Pearce and her husband Steve, of Savannah, MO; Walter Honea, Jr., of Savannah; mother, Leila Peden of Falls City; sister, Sharon Horn and her husband Norm, of Kingman, AZ; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, brother, John and sisters, Leah Honea and Myrna Parrish.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Ryan Larsen as celebrant. Military honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
