Winifred Schulenberg, 85, of Falls City, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 at Falls City. She was born Aug. 5, 1928 at Falls City to the late Irvin and Agnes (Mackey) Cornford.
On July 22, 1949 she married John Schulenberg at Falls City.He passed away July 1, 2004.
Winnie was raised at Falls City and attended Falls City High School. Following her schooling she worked as an operator for SE Nebraska Telephone Co.. When married the couple made their home in Falls City. They moved to Columbus, where she was a bookkeeper for Nebraska Game and Parks, working with her husband, who was superintendent of parks. They also lived in Victory Springs, Anselmo, Norfolk, and Niobrara, where she continued to work as a bookkeeper at those state parks. They returned to Falls City in 1990.She was a member of First Christian Church at Falls City.
Winnie is survived by her son, Gary, of Yankton, SD; sisters, Thelma Kelley, of Falls City, LaVerna Greenley, of Rock Port, MO; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Mildred McGinnis; and a brother, Irvin Cornford, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Fay Ann Blaylock officiating.
