Sophomore Morgen Valentine (138) took home fourth place, while senior Chase Thompson (182) won the consolation side of the bracket en route to a third-place finish. Jeremy Zimmerman was seeded fifth and battled his way through a tough heavyweight class to a finish third.  Zimmerman’s only loss was to the Class A’s third-ranked wrestler from Lincoln Pius X,  Tyson Cisneros.

FC won a pair of duals last Thursday in Horton, KS, as they defeated Humboldt-TR-S/Pawnee City, 48-18, and then handled Hiawatha/Horton, 54-23.

In the first dual, Deven Nycum (126) and Justin Ernst(152)  had big wins to push the Tigers.  Valentine, Alex Olsen (195) and Dalton Kennel (220) each grabbed pins in their matches while Thompson had a tech fall. Zimmerman, Mathew Rathje, and Brody Smith were awarded forfeits.

In the second dual of the night, the Tigers were able to keep stretching the lead thanks to a majority of wrestlers pinning their way to victory.  Nycum, Thompson, Kennel and Zimmerman all earned pins for FC.

The Tigers travel to the Raymond Central Invitational Saturday before returning home next Thursday for their final home dual and Parent’s Night. Saturday’s action begins at 9 a.m. and next week’s double dual with Auburn and Platteview is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
