Loren E. Michel Sr.

Loren E. Michel Sr., 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 17, 2014. He was born on April 26, 1929, in Rulo, to Chris and Esther Asendorf Michel.

Loren was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints and served in many different callings. The one he enjoyed the most was working with the youth in the Scouting program which was one of the highlights of his life. He also was the recipient of the Silver Beaver award. In 1994 he and his wife served the Lord in the Arizona Phoenix Mission.

Loren’s hobbies were gardening, raising animals, camping, fishing and lapidary. Over the years he entered his vegetables and fruits in the county fairs and was awarded many ribbons.

The important things to Loren were the love of his life, Linda, of 53 years; his five children, 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He enjoyed holding them when they were babies, playing with them as they grew and especially teasing them.Teasing would always make Loren laugh until his eyes watered. You could always find him in the garden teaching his children and grandchildren how to work hard for a successful crop.

We are grateful and blessed for the example he set, the love he shared and the lessons he taught.  We will miss him greatly and know he is with our Heavenly Father.

Loren is survived by his wife Linda; his children, Loren (Suellen) Michel Jr., Leslee (Scott) Farrow, Leland Michel, Larry Michel and Lisa Jones; sisters, Lavina Johnson and Betty Wing.
