Jesse D. James, 64, of Shubert, passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, at his home in Shubert. The son of Harlan James and Kathryn (Sargent) Hoy, he was born Oct. 21, 1949 in Liberty, MO.
Jesse was raised mainly in Nehawka, Union and Murray. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for various construction companies over the years. Jesse made his home in Shubert, where he has lived for the past 34 years.
In 2006 he was united in marriage to Elaine Kelley. Jesse loved the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing, and gardening. He played the guitar and was a handy carpenter.
Jesse had been fighting cancer for the past few years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Bob Hoy; sister, Viola Sandoval; brothers, Lloyd Murphy Jr., and Randy James.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, of Shubert; son, Jeffrey James; brothers and sisters, Billy Murphy, Judy Cochran, Kalina Strode, Bobbie Schroder, Leslie Hoy, Robert (Scott) Hoy and Kelly Waggoner; stepbrothers and stepsisters, Diana Perez, Roger Hoy, Rocky Hoy, Maryann Mendez, Terry Hoy and Orville Hoy; special godsons, Jonathan and James Kirkendall; other relatives and friends.
There will be a private family memorial service at a later date. Memorials may be given in his honor to the family. Visitation was held Friday, Dec. 27, at the Hall Funeral Home in Falls City.
