Tigers send only a pair to Crete Invite

The Falls City Wrestling Team sent a majority of the younger wrestlers to junior varsity tournaments in Syracuse and Nebraska City this past week.

These match limits combined with a little flu bug and a ACT testing left only two wrestlers to compete in the Crete Tournament Saturday.

Chase Thompson and Jeremy Zimmerman represented the team well, each placing in the tournament. Jeremy went 3-1, losing an tight overtime match to Central City in the semi-finals. Zimmerman fought back through the wrestlbacks earning third place.

Thompson used the tournament to improve his skills from the bottom position and showed great improvement from last week in Wamego. Thompson finished in 4th place at 182 pounds.

These two Tigers put up 34 points and put the team in position to finish in 14th place.

The wrestling team will finish the first half the season in Auburn Dec. 21. The Tigers will fill more weight classes and hope to compete well as a team.

TIGER JV WRESTLING
Several of the younger wrestlers competed in junior varsity tournaments in Syracuse and Nebraska City over the past week.

The JV tournaments allow the younger wrestlers the opportunity to gain more experience with more matches than they will see in a varsity tournament.  These younger wrestlers need this mat time to improve their skills.  Coaches are hoping these wrestlers will learn from mistakes in these early tournaments and position themselves to make an impact on the varsity team as the season goes on.  Brett Black and Dalton Kennel wrestled to 2nd place finishes at Syracuse.
