Leslie R. Potterf

Leslie R. Potterf, 69, of Pleasant Valley, MO, passed away on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at the Liberty, MO, Hospital. He was born on Sept. 28, 1944, in Horton, KS, the son of George and Dorthea Wright Potterf.  

Leslie went to work for Missouri Pacific Railroad in December of 1968 in Falls City and went on to work with Union Pacific RR when the two railroads merged. He eventually retired from Union Pacific.

He was a member of the FC Elks Lodge and served as secretary/treasurer for the United Transportation Union for 20 years. He was a member of NARVE and enjoyed sports and traveling.

On Jan. 26, 1964, he married Margie Meerpohl at the Everest Christian Church. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include daughters, Kristi Smith (Mike Frye), of Topeka, KS, and Kari (Tracy) Brown, of San Antonio, TX; son, Barry (Jennifer) Potterf, of LaVista; brother, Delbert (Denise) Potterf, of Kansas City, MO; sisters, Betty Potter, Horton, Beverly (Keith) Foye, Whiting, KS, and Sandra (Russell) Herrin, of Edmonds, WA; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, where the family greeted friends Friday. Burial was at the Miller Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Leslie Potterf memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
