FCPD Chief Caverzagie to retire

Falls City Police Chief John Caverzagie has submitted his notice to Mayor Tim Hersh of his intent to retire at the end of the month after 35 years as a member of the FCPD. He was appointed Chief in 1997 by then-Mayor Marshall Maddox.

Caverzagie first served seven years as a Patrolman, and was promoted to Assistant Chief, a position he held for 12 years.

Currently, the FCPD has eight officers including the Chief, plus two part-time officers. Applications will be accepted for the position of Chief of Police and Mayor Hersh will submit a name to be appointed to the position. That appointment must then be confirmed by the City Council.
