Donna J. Vogt

Donna Jo Vogt, 82, of Falls City, passed away Nov. 12, 2013 at Falls City. She was born June 19, 1931 at Rulo to the late Ralph and Alida (Roberts) Goolsby.

On June 8, 1949 she married Walter C. Vogt at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, northeast of Falls City. He passed away Feb. 28, 2010.

Donna was raised in the Rulo area and graduated from the Rulo High School in 1949. The couple established their home in Falls City when married and she worked at the Falls City Meat Co. and several restaurants in Falls City; the Justice Manufacturing in Hiawatha and retired from Midland Villa (Careage Estates) in 1992 after being a cook there for 13 years. Donna was known for being a great cook and loved cooking for people; her potato salad and Heavenly Delight were her most requested dishes. She took up quilting and made many beautiful handcrafted quilts; she loved playing Pinochle and was a shark.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church at Rulo.

Donna is survived by her sons, John (Debbie), of Eureka, KS, B. J., of Concord, CA, Jerry (Nancy), of Lincoln; daughter, Nancy Vogt, of Falls City; sisters, Carol Gentry, of Falls City, Phyllis Idol, of Hiawatha; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a step-grandson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, with Rev. Lyle K. Schoen officiating. Interment in Rulo Cemetery. The family received friends Friday at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
