Sacred Heart’s season ends in three-set loss to Stuart

Falls City Sacred Heart fell in straight sets to Stuart, 25-23, 25-18, 25-22, Thursday night in the first round of the Class D2 State Volleyball Tournament in Grand Island.

FCSH freshman Haylee Heits finished with a game-high five blocks and a team-high 10 kills to go along with 10 digs. Senior Ashli Jordan led the Irish with 11 digs and junior Elizabeth Magdanz recorded 18 set assists.

Stuart freshman Harlee Fischer had a big game at the net, finishing with 20 kills and three blocks. Courtni Kunz put away 12 kills, while Jaden Schafer finished with game-high totals in digs, 14, and set assists, 37.

The 26 wins was the most for a Lady Irish team since the 2002 Class D1 runner-up team finished 29-5. This was also the first trip to state for FCSH since 2009 and the school’s ninth appearance overall.
