Loretta M. Lockard

Loretta Mae (Shaw) Lockard, 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013. She was born Jan. 27, 1933 in Salem.

Loretta was a faithful wife and best friend of Byford Lockard for 64 years. Loretta and Byford began dating when they were teenagers and were married on Sept. 10, 1949 in Hiawatha, KS. Loretta and Byford made their home in Stella.

Loretta and Byford were blessed with seven children during their marriage, Leland “Butch” Lockard and wife Lynnette, Gregory Lockard and wife Roberta, David Lockard and wife Norma “Jochy” all of Stella, Nancy Lockard Talbert and husband Jon of Overland Park, KS, Barry Lockard and wife Anne of Eagle, Rebecca Lockard Sahulka and husband Rick of Weeping Water, Stephen Jon Lockard and a foster son, Pete Ellison and wife Becky of Lake Worth, FL.

Loretta was best known for her hospitality, love for her family and her faith in the Lord.

Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shaw, son Stephen, sister Bertha in infancy and bothers, Lester and Roy, Jr.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Byford and her children along with her grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, brothers, Marvin Shaw of Robinson, KS, Chet Shaw of Solomon, KS and her sister, Joyce Van Meter of Olathe, KS.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Bible Fellowship Church, one mile east of Stella. Interment will be in Stella Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Nursing Home Chapel in Auburn.
