Kayla R. Strathman

 

 

 

Kayla R. Strathman, 20, of Baileyville, KS, died Sunday morning, July 14, 2013 in a one-vehicle accident four miles south of Corning, KS.

Kayla Renee was born on September 18, 1992 in Seneca, KS, the daughter of Richard and Janice Stallbaumer Strathman. She grew up in Baileyville, KS, and graduated from B&B High School in 2011.  She was very athletic, participating in sports ranging from volleyball and basketball to softball and cheerleading.

Currently she was attending Kansas State University, majoring in Human Resources. She would have started her junior year next month. She enjoyed her social life and keeping up with her friends through online networking.  She loved her family, friends, and being an aunt.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville.  While attending school, she worked part time for Celebrations of the Heart Bridal Shop in Manhattan. 

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Joseph Strathman and Richard Stallbaumer.

She is survived her parents, Rich and Jan Strathman of Baileyville; brothers Jeff (Randi) Strathman of Baileyville, Dustin (Carla) Strathman of Axtell, KS; a sister,  Dana (Nate) Kohake of Manhattan; two nephews, Brody Strathman and Camden Kohake;  and her grandmothers, Rita Strathman of Seneca, KS and Jerian (Junior) Rethman of Seneca.

Rosaries were prayed at 2 & 7 PM on Tuesday, July 16, at Sacred Heart Church in Baileyville. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2 PM Wednesday, July 17, at Sacred Heart’s Catholic Church in Baileyville. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be given for the Kayla Strathman Memorial Fund.
