Board hears 133 valuation protests

County Treasurer Austin Duerfeldt presented the semi-annual report for the period ending June 30, 2013, when he met with the Richardson County Commissioners during their regular meeting Tuesday, July 9.

Duerfeldt also presented a listing of the uncollected taxes for tax years 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, as well as the listing of tax certificates that were not sold at the annual tax sale in April 2013.  The board moved to direct the treasurer to issue the remaining tax sale certificates to the county on any real property upon which there are any delinquent taxes.

The treasurer also presented pledge security receipts that have been issued to the county.

Highway Supt. Scott Huppert met with board members Dave Sickel, Jim Davidson and Jim Standerford and said the truck purchased through bidding in April was to be delivered during the week by Lincoln Truck Center.  Huppert said the listing for rural addressing signs that need to be replaced is being completed so that signs can be ordered and put in place.

During this portion of the meeting, the board moved to enter into an agreement with the City of Humboldt regarding the maintenance and cost share of a bridge.  And, the board moved to approve an emergency request to place a utility pole on county road right-of-way, approximately six miles north of Falls City, with the provision that the formal written agreement are completed for the record.

While meeting as a Board of Equalization, 133 property valuation protests were heard.  Adjournment was at 9:05 p.m.
