A four-run fifth inning wasn’t enough Wednesday night for the Falls City Blue Storm Seniors, as they fell 10-7 in a Southeast Nebraska Baseball Conference game at Plattsmouth.
Falls City answered Plattsmouth’s four-run fourth inning with four runs in the fifth to pull to within one, 8-7, but the home team added two in the bottom of the sixth and closed out FC in the seventh.
Plattsmouth’s Brent Hoschar was responsible for the would-be game-winning RBI when his fly ball was mishandled and Taylor McAllister, who reached second on a bases loaded double, crossed the plate to put Plattsmouth ahead 8-3.
Tyler DiGiacomo, Chaz Dunn and Codie Witt each had a pair of hits for FC. Dunn scored three times, drove in one and stole two bases, while DiGiacomo scored twice and added an RBI. Derek Bippes finished 2-4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs.
Jordy Stoller took the complete game loss in his first appearance of the season for FC. Stoller allowed eight earned runs, with seven strikeouts and one walk.
FC and Plattsmouth each finished with 10 hits. Plattsmouth committed four errors, while FC totaled two.
The Blue Storm Seniors currently sit at 8-4 overall and 4-3 in the SENBC. They travel to Wathena, KS this weekend for a the Doniphan County Tournament.

Seven lead changes occurred before the Blue Storm pulled out a 5-4 walk-off win in the eighth inning of Tuesday night’s conference matchup with Wilmar Electric at SNC Field.
Derek Bippes, who had just pitched all eight innings, recorded the game-winning RBI when he drew a bases load walk – his fourth base-on-balls of the game – to score Codie Witt from third and gave FC the victory.
Wilmar jumped on top with two runs in the top of the first, but FC answered with three of their own in the bottom half when Wade Witt’s single to right scored DiGiacomo and Dunn. Brandt Vice then drove in Bippes to retake the lead, 3-2.
Wilmar responded with one in the second, then the game remained nodded at threes until the bottom of the fourth when Chase Thompson’s two-out single to left scored DiGiacomo to put FC ahead 4-3.
The visitors were quick to answer though with a one-run fifth inning, but that would do it for any scoring for both teams until the game winner in the eighth.
Bippes, who improved to 2-1, turned in another solid performance as he allowed only three hits, one earned run and struck out seven.
Wade Witt drove in two runs, while Brandt Vice and Chase Thompson each drove in one.
Dunn walked three times, swiped two bases and recorded a run. Digiacomo recorded two singles, scored twice and stole four bases.
All told, FC’s batters combined for 11 walks.
