Decked out in new uniforms and playing for the first time on their beautiful new ball field, SNC Park, the Falls City Blue Storm completed an exciting sweep of Sabetha, KS, Saturday in Falls City.

The newly named “Blue Storm,” stormed back in the seniors’ game with a 10-9 walk-off  victory.

Trailing 9-7 in bottom of the seventh, FC’s Logan Scheitel knocked a pinch-hit single to left. Austin Malone then entered the game to run for Scheitel. Second baseman Jordy Stoller then reached on a single and the two later moved to second and third base, respectively, after a passed ball by Sabetha’s catcher. After Tyler DiGiacomo’s pop-out to first base,  Chaz Dunn’s single to left-center drove in Malone and Stoller to tie the game at 9-9.

The Blue Storm’s Codie Witt, who was involved in a minor collision with Dunn on a pop fly earlier in the game, showed no signs of the injury in his final at bat as he singled up the middle to drive in Dunn for the winning run.

Reese Hogue, who entered the game in the top of the fifth, picked up the victory for FC. In 2 1/3 scoreless innings, the southpaw allowed two hits, a  walk and one strikeout.

Lane Scheitel started for FC and despite 10 strikeouts, he allowed six earned on six hits and walked seven in 4 2/3 innings.

Dunn (2-4, 2B, 2RBI, 3R) and third baseman Chase Thompson (2-3, 2B, RBI, R) led the charge offensively for the Blue Storm.

FC was a little shaky defensively, as they committed two errors.

All told the teams combined for 16 hits, including six extra base hits.
