Kolleen Catherine Malicke, 88, Flower Mound, TX, formerly of Falls City, passed away one day after her 88th birthday on Saturday, March 23, 2013, with her three daughters at her bedside.
Kolleen was born in Kansas City, MO, on March 22, 1925, the daughter of John and Grace Scheetz Sr. After high school graduation, she went to work for the K.C. Blind Association and for Bruce Dobson Insurance Co.
She and Frank I. Malicke from Belfield, ND, were married in 1950 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Kansas City.
After his military service, Frank and Kolleen moved to Holdrege and then to Hiawatha, KS, where he was a watchmaker.
In 1961, Frank and Kolleen opened their own business, Frank’s Jewelry, in Falls City. They worked side-by-side for 25 years. Kolleen was interested in residential architecture and designed their entire home in Falls City. Retirement came in 1986, when the couple moved to Flower Mound.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Terri (Don) Osvog and Jan (Paul) Pelletier, all of Flower Mound, and Nancy (Michael) Moravec, Oklahoma City, OK, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Frank, in 2009, her brother, John “Jack” Scheetz and her parents.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, in St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Lewisville, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, Lewisville, TX, or Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City.
