Jacklynn K. (Owings) Peek

Jacklynn Kay (Owings) Peek, 70, of Diagonal, IA, formerly of Humboldt, died at her daughter’s home in Diagonal on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013.

She was born Jan. 23, 1943, in Humboldt, the daughter of John “Jack” and Naomi (Sinnett) Owings. She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1961.

On Dec. 19, 1968, Jacklynn married Lynn Peek. She lived most of her life in Humboldt.  In her younger years, she worked at Merritt’s Corral, Counter & Flower Shop, the Park Hotel and the O.A. Cooper Co. After her children grew up, Jacklynn worked part-time at The Camp and the Weldon House.

She is survived by her husband, Lynn Peek, Humboldt; daughters, Christy (Doug) Sibold, Fairview, KS, Susan (Matt) Stephens, Diagonal, IA, and Carrie (Steve) Baltimore, of Elkhorn; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Dixie (Steve) Hemmerling, of Omaha; a brother, John Owings, Lincoln; and stepsons, Lynn Chase, Roy (Jeanette) Chase, all of Denver, CO, and Kevin Chase, Twin Falls, WI.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother, Roger Owings, a sister, Debra Sons, and a stepson, Donnie Chase.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 4, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, with Pastor Mary-Ellen Gaither officiating. Visitation was at the funeral home prior to the service.  Inurnment will be at the Humboldt Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice.
