Blue Storm Juniors defend NEBKAN Border Battle title

Falls City’s Blue Storm Juniors (5-4) won their second-straight NEBKAN Juniors Border Battle Tournament over the weekend. This was the second annual tournament and second year Falls City has hosted. Nebraska teams went 3-0 on Sunday in their respective Nebraska/Kansas games for the second-straight year to help win the border battle. Tecumseh defeated Holton in the 5th place game and Auburn defeated Sabetha in the 3rd place game. Area river levels to subside through weekend

Heavy rainfall throughout the Missouri River Basin has caused moderate flooding in Richardson County and surrounding areas, but forecasts from the National Weather Service in Omaha predict river levels to subside as early as Friday morning.

Sheriff, officials thwart scam

Last week, the Richardson County Sheriff’s office warned the public about a phone scam that was circulating around the county. The scammers promised a large cash winning prize, as well as a Mercedes vehicle to the people they were contacting.

Jail facility letter to Standards Board

The Richardson County Commissioners have sent a letter to the Nebraska Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice, Nebraska Jail Standards Board, regarding the intention of Richardson County to take action for the development of new construction plans for a Jail and Law Enforcement facility.
