Vicki Lynn Thurnau, 75, passed away June 13, 2022 at Falls City, She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on April 12, 1947 to Margie Dixon Thurnau and Clarence Thurnau. She attended Craig R3 School. Vicki met an onery Rulo boy named Gary Beckner and it wasn’t long until the two were married on December 3, 1964 in Rockport, Missouri. The two lovebirds made their home in Falls City, Nebraska.
Vicki worked many jobs over the years tending for the elderly at area hospitals, nursing homes and providing hospice and in home health services. Vicki received her EMT certification in 1974 and was one of the original members of the Falls City Volunteer Ambulance Squad along with husband Gary. Gary and Vicki moved like gypsies making homes in Kansas City, Omaha, Chicago, and Arkansas and traveled south in their RV for several winters, making friends wherever they went.
Vicki’s hobbies included caring for her grandchildren, baking and cooking. She was famous for her fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy but really there’s nothing she couldn’t whip up. Vicki loved a good garage sale, thrift store or any sale in general. She had the largest pantry this side of the Mississippi and loved sharing with anyone in need.
She was a member of the Falls City Chocolate Gravy Group and the New Song Baptist Church in Williford, Arkansas where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
Her husband Gary preceded her in death in 2016 and daughter Pam in early 2022.
Vicki is survived by two children, Jeff and Scott along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, June 23rd at 10:30 A. M. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 before the service at the funeral home.
Instead of flowers, plants or items of memorabilia, the family prefers memorials be made to family choice for later determination.
