Friday, January 15, will be the Falls City Dollar Fresh Store’s long-awaited grand opening.
After several months of construction, the new Dollar Fresh store in Falls City, Nebraska, located at 1300 Stone Street, will open its doors to the public at 7 a.m. on Friday, January 15, for its official grand opening.
The former ShopKo store was buzzing last week as employees from St. Joe and Bellevue HyVee stores helped stock shelves and prepare the new store for this week’s grand opening. Former Falls City High School graduate Clint Sailors and long-time employee of HyVee will serve as the Falls City Dollar Fresh Manager.
Sailors was working on the restaurant side of a HyVee store, then worked on the Bakery side. When he heard they were opening the Dollar Fresh Store in Falls City, he knew it was time to come home.
“It’s a better place to raise a family. You get better values in a small town. You know the people who live next door to you. I had a good childhood here and my kids will too,” said Sailors.
Sailors arrived in town recently with his family and got to work. Employees started moving stuff in on Monday, January 4. “everyone was breaking down boxing, moving pallets, and stocking shelves,” said Sailors.
The more than 32,000-square-foot store will offer a full selection of grocery items, a bakery section, a dollar section, a Wall of Values, a wine and spirits department, Aisles Online grocery services, Joe Fresh apparel, a shoe section, 525 specialty items and 195 produce items, including 25 organic offerings and a seventeen-foot gluten-free section.
The store also offers self-checkout as well as regular check out options.
Ready to eat meals will be offered as well as fresh pizza, rotisserie chicken, hamburgers, sandwiches and breakfast starting at 7:00 a.m. Food is offered throughout the day until 8:00 p.m. Casseroles, pre-made salads, enchiladas, lasagna and more will also be offered as a grab and go option.
A surprising part of the new Dollar Fresh is their partnership with the Joe Fresh clothing line mostly geared toward women and children and DSW Shoes, with the option of ordering DSW shoes online and having them delivered to the store at no cost.
“Low, low prices is our goal here,” said Sailors. The store operates on a low labor mode. This will be how they’re able to keep their prices low. So you’ll see a lot of boxes still on the shelves and that’s going to be the most significant difference you’ll see between a regular HyVee and a Dollar Fresh is the ‘lower prices,” said Sailors.
The new store looks to employ around 45 people.
“We’re excited. We want to be here for the community,” said Sailors. “What I want is this to be that home town store, something people know and come to that’s part of the community.”
The store will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and will carry approximately 9,500 items.
The Falls City Dollar Fresh Grand Opening will be this Friday, Jan. 15, 2021 at 7:00 a.m. 1300 Stone Street.
