An early morning fire on Dec. 16 destroyed the home of Matt and Lindsay Lefler, of Humboldt.
The family was not home at the time of the fire.
The Humboldt Volunteer Fire Department posted on social media that the structure was fully engulfed upon their arrival with power lines down and arcing. The gas meter had burned off and was emitting natural gas that had ignited.
The family lost a pet dog in the fire.
The Nebraska Fire Marshal will determine the cause of the fire.
The Red Cross has been notified and the community has set up a GoFundMe page for the family here.
