Genevieve L. Troncin, 91, of Falls City was born on August 24, 1927, to Charles and Agnes (Karash) Purvis in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She attended school in Arapahoe and Cambridge, Nebraska. Genevieve moved with her family to Falls City in March of 1943 and has lived there since. On August 1, 1946, Genevieve was united in marriage to Floyd Finner Jr. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Falls City. To this union, four children, Dennis, Larry, Connie, and Jeffrey, were born. Floyd passed away on April 11, 1965, and Genevieve was later married to Dean Troncin on February 19, 1971. She worked all her life in Falls City at various jobs that included the Creamery, several grocery stores, and Midland Villa nursing home. Genevieve was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and a respite volunteer.
Genevieve passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at the Falls City Care Center in Falls City, Nebraska, having reached the earthly age of ninety-one years, eleven months and twenty-two days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Floyd Finner and Dean Troncin, daughter Connie Gordon, great-grandson Eric Kelz, brothers Ernie and Dale (Betty) Purvis, sisters: Evelyn (Milton) Harmon, Charlotte (Johnny) Kenner and Luella (Kenny) Schmidt, and step-children Linda Chesnut and Larry Troncin.
Genevieve is survived by her sons: Dennis (Mary) Finner of Falls City, Larry (Carol) Finner of Falls City, Jeffrey Finner and significant other Karen Shorb of Falls City, step-son Gary Troncin of Maryville, MO; a sister Joan Stone of Falls City, 10 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City, Nebraska with Fr. Lawrence Stoley officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at the Hall Funeral Home, 2403 Harlan St. in Falls City. The family will greet friends from 6-7 p.m., and a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be at the Falls City Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Sacred Heart School God Parent Program.
