Gregory A. Platter, 47, of Westminster, MD (formerly of Shubert), passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at Westminster. He was born Nov. 22, 1969 at Lincoln to Dennis Platter and Mary Chamberlain.
Greg moved to Shubert at the age of 9, graduated from Southeast Consolidated High School in 1988 and then enlisted in the Air Force. He attended auto technician college but was recalled to active duty to serve in Desert Storm. Greg was honorably discharged in 1995. When he returned, he became a master mechanic in Delaware and then Baltimore. He then worked for a private ambulance company, performing fleet maintenance. Following that, Greg worked for a land clearing company in the Baltimore area.
On June 3, 1989 he married Wendy Nissen at Dover, DE; they were later divorced.
Greg is survived by his fiance, Susan Hoak, of Westminster; sons, Kevin Cody Platter, of New London, CT, and Matthew Alan Platter, or Oregon, OH; and his father, Dennis Platter and his special friend, Diana Husing, of Shubert.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Greg’s funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, Falls City, with Pastor Tom Beutler officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
