JOY HAUSHAHN

Joy Y. Haushahn, 69, of Falls City, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016.
   She was born Nov. 22, 1946, at Horton, KS, to the late Robert and Doris (Ramer) Haushahn.
   Joy was raised in Verdon and contracted Spinal Meningitis at the age of eight.  She spent six weeks in intensive care at Omaha Children’s Hospital and came home a complete invalid.  After months of learning to walk and talk again, she faced a very limited future, but met her many obstacles with courage and a positive attitude.  When her mother passed away in 2012, she started a new adventure of living on her own.  She met this challenge and made many friends at her new home in Falls City.
   Joy is survived by sisters, Reba Benson and her husband, Bill, of Hickman, NE, Dee Dettmann and her husband, Jerry, of Salem, and Vernell Schutte and her husband, Jack, of Verdon; and brothers, Herbert Haushahn and his wife, Marcy, of Oregon, IL, and Joe Jarred and his wife, Debbie, of Verdon.
   She was preceded in death by her parents.
   A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
   There will be no viewing or visitation.
   Dorr and Clark Funeral Home of Falls City is in charge of arrangements.
