Vanilla-Thunder-Flying, Robinzine-Crying, Teeth-Shaking, Glass-Breaking, Rump-Roasting, Bun-Toasting, Wham-Bam, Glass-Breaker-I-Am-Jam…TIMES TWO! Well, no glass was broken, but Falls City SH senior Henry Arnold, left, and FC High School sophomore Brandt Chapple both delivered slam-a-grams in front of the home fans recently. Arnold elevated for a stuff in Sacred Heart’s 45-41 win over Lewiston Dec. 15, and Chapple rattled the rim, rafters and the Plattsmouth Blue Devils in a 60-31 Tiger trouncing Dec. 19. Sacred Heart, which beat HTRS 53-35 Dec. 18 to improve to 4-0 on the season, dropped it’s final two pre-Christmas break games — 53-40 at St. Joseph (MO) Leblond Dec. 19 and 47-46 Dec. 22 at home against still-unbeaten Elmwood-Murdock. They are scheduled to compete in the Freeman Holiday Tournament Dec. 29-30, weather permitting. The Tigers, meanwhile, have won three in a row — all on their home floor — after opening the season with a pair of losses. The Tigers beat Auburn (47-30) Dec. 11, Leblond (53-36) Dec. 15 and the Blue Devils heading into vacation. FCHS was supposed to compete in the Leblond Holiday Tournament this week, but it was (prematurely?) pushed back to Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, Dec. 30-31 and Jan. 2; the Tigers are scheduled to host Ashland-Greenwood Saturday, so were forced to withdraw from the Leblond Tournament. The date with the 2-3 Bluejays is FC’s last home appearance until they host aforementioned Elmwood-Murdock Jan. 16. FCHS goes to Marysville, KS, on Jan. 5; Johnson-Brock Jan. 7; Auburn Jan. 12; and Maryville, MO, Jan. 15. Sacred Heart, too, is on the road for much of January. After the Freeman Tournament, the Irish travel to Mound City Jan. 5 and Diller-Odell Jan. 8. MUDECAS is Jan. 11-16 and Sacred Heart heads to Rock Port, MO, Jan. 19. They return to Prichard Auditorium Jan. 22 to face Pawnee City. The local iron needs the rest.
