Falls City High School seniors Tucker Merz, the son of Marc and Sally Merz, and Sidney Prichard, daughter of Ron and Cassie Prichard, were crowned 2014 FCHS Homecoming King and Queen last Friday night at halftime of the Tigers’ 60-12 win over Douglas County West.
Tucker was presented the scepter by 2013 King Reese Hogue and Sidney was crowned by ‘13 Queen Allyson Scholl. Attending the past King & Queen were freshman student council representatives Jordyn Bomar and Katie Stoller.
Other King candidates were Weston Witt, son of Rich and Susan Witt, and Lee Huettner, son of Jeff and Darlena Huettner.
Other Queen candidates were Sydney Armbruster, daughter of Duane and Theresa Armbruster, and Maygan Ramsey, daughter of Doug and Christine Ramsey.
Tucker is a member of F-Club, where he has lettered three of his four years in football and two of his three years thus far in track. Last spring Tucker earned academic all-state honors. He is a member of show choir, has competed in one act, served as Class President his sophomore year, is a member of the National Honor Society, has been on the Honor Roll all four years, including two semesters on the Orange and Black Honor Roll, and is a two-time past Student of the Month.
Outside of school, Tucker works for Brown’s Shoe Fit and has volunteered as a Falls City Recreation flag football coach. Tucker also volunteers his time to the Tanner Shelby Merz Foundation, where he has assisted with the Fundamentals Football Camp for young players and the annual TSM Memorial Cruise, held in honor of his older brother, Tanner.
Tucker plans to attend college and obtain a criminal justice degree. He hopes to one day work as federal law enforcement agent.
While a student at Falls City High, Sidney has participated in chorus and is a PAL, or “Peers Always Learning Mentor.”
Outside of school, she enjoys listening to music and watching music videos, as well as going to support her many friends while they compete in various Tiger activities. Sidney has also participated in “Games on the Green,” held at Peru State College, which provided Sidney with the opportunity to compete in friendly games against other Life Skills students in the area.
Sidney’s future plans are to remain in Falls City, where she’ll continue with the Life Skills Program at the high school.
