LORRAINE MARIE POOL

Lorraine Marie Pool, 90, of Acton, CA, passed away on April 30, 2014, after a long and fruitful life. She had spent the past several years in a skilled nursing facility in Glendale, CA. She was born in Dixon, NE on May 7, 1923.
    She graduated from Falls City High School in 1941.
    Lorraine was married to Joseph A. Pool, Jr. on July 10, 1939; they were married 43 years. In the early years of their marriage they traveled all over the United States while Joe was enlisted in the Army during World War II. After the war they relocated to southern California, and shared their last home together in Santa Clarita, CA. Lorraine relocated to Acton in 1994 where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Kirk Van Houten.
    Lorraine worked as a clerical assistant for the Firemen’s Fund Insurance in Los Angeles for a number of years. While raising her family she worked for Marquardt in Van Nuys, and in later years she worked for a welding company in Santa Clarita.
    Lorraine is survived by her children, Phyllis Burkart, Judy and Kirk Van Houten, and Joe and Susan Pool; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, a newborn son, and many other family and friends, and pets.
    The memorial service was held May 16, 2014 at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Santa Clarita, CA, with Chaplain Elias Molina of Glendale Adventist Medical Center, presiding. Her final resting place is at Eternal Valley.
