Leonard Rieger, 77, of Rulo, NE, passed away on May 25, 2023 in Omaha, NE. He was born on June 13, 1945 in Falls City, NE to Earl and Minta Carol (Fischer) Rieger.
He married Susan Dunn on November 30, 1969 in Falls City.
Leonard was raised on the family farm and graduated from Falls City High School in 1963. He then attended mechanic school in Omaha and then returned to work at the Ford garage.
He then started farming with his father on the family farm, which this year, will have been in the family for 150 years. He also worked for UPS and farmed for Benny and Randy Sickel as well as Russell Heineman. He enjoyed driving in the State Fair tractor pull competitions. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and held several positions in the church, he was also a member of the Falls City Honor Guard and the Falls City Car Club.
Leonard served in the Nebraska National Guard, Company B in Falls City.
He is survived by wife, Susan Rieger of Rulo; children: David (Rachel) Rieger of Mound City, MO, Jennifer (Nathan) Strecker of Falls City; sisters: Sharon Comer of Omaha, NE, Cathy (Frank) Palmer of Falls City; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Carolee Martin and a grandchild, Terron Jones.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Michael Brown officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
Viewing will begin at noon on Monday until 5:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be made to family choice for later designation.
