Darrell Rannebeck, 89, of Falls City, NE, passed away April 4, 2023 at Falls City. He was born
April 19, 1933 at Downs, KS to Ben and Tena (Schoen) Rannebeck.
He married Ruth Vonderschmidt on February 26, 1956 at Falls City.
Darrell was drafted into the U. S. Army on May 27, 1953 at Omaha, NE. He served in Germany and earned a National Defense Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. He was honorably discharged on May 11, 1955 at Ft. Sheridan, IL.
Darrell was raised in Falls City and attended Falls City High School and then began working for Elmer Duerfeldt. He was drafted into the U. S. Army. He returned home after he was discharged and the couple married and established their home northwest of Falls City on a farm. He was a farmer and raised livestock and enjoyed flying airplanes. He retired from farming in 2017 due to his health. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Rannebeck, sisters, Anna Lee Kleopfer of Morrill, KS and Rosalie and her husband Eldon Mellenbruch of Hiawatha, KS and his faithful dog, Sophie. He was preceded in death by his parents.
His funeral will be Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church with Reverend Michael Dunaway officiating. Interment will be at Steele Cemetery. Military graveside honors by the Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
