Glen E. Raney, 94, of Falls City, NE, passed away February 17, 2023 at Falls City. He was born April 27, 1928 at White Cloud, KS to Hobart and Cora (Vinsonhaler) Raney.
He married Mary Lou Howard on January 17, 1954 at Nemaha, NE. She passed away October 6, 2009.
Glen was drafted in the U. S. Army on September 18, 1951 at Kansas City, MO. He served in the Korean war, earning a Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Campaign Stars and a United Nations Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on September 8, 1953 at Camp Carson, CO.
Glen was raised in White Cloud and when he was finished with his schooling, he started working on the family farm. He was drafted in the U. S. Army and when he was honorably discharged, he returned to work on the family farm. When married the couple made their home in Falls City before moving to a farm south of Nemaha a short time later. They then moved east of Dawson before they purchased a farm west of Dawson. He retired from farming in 1999 and then built a home in Shubert and he lived there until moving into Falls City Nursing and Rehab in 2018. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and mushroom hunter. He was a member of Shubert Christian Church and the Shubert American Legion.
Glen is survived by his children, Peggy Easterwood and her husband Jim of Dawson, Jeannie Fitzpatrick and her husband Pat of Clayton, GA, Randy and his wife Debbie of Shubert, sister, Lorreta Housh and her husband Tom of Sierra Vista, AZ, five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Ben, Jim and Harold Raney and sisters, Edith Nissen and Lula Allen.
His funeral will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Boatright officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Union Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Shubert American Legion Post.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home
