Patricia A. McCloud

Patricia A. McCloud, a longtime resident of Seattle/Lake Forest Park, passed away at the age of 94 on August 27, 2025, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born Patricia Hampel on June 21, 1931, in Denver, CO, it was not long before she would move to the family farm in Nebraska with her mother, Lucille Hampel, and sister Jean. The farm, which had been in the family since the 1880s, would be home from her earliest school years through college graduation. After marrying William D. McCloud, she moved to Omaha, NE, to begin married life together. A job transfer in 1958 led to a significant upheaval, relocating across the country to Seattle, WA, something uncommon for the time. Nonetheless, Patricia fell in love with Seattle, making it her permanent home.

Family was Patricia’s number one priority, especially raising her three children. She had a special knack for making a “house a home,” regardless of everything else happening in her life. A woman with unending energy, Patricia also chose to stay active outside the home as long as she could maintain a favorable work-life balance. Her part-time work for the “Welcome Wagon” led to a position as Secretary of the Kenmore Chamber of Commerce. Her membership in P.E.O. International was an activity she treasured.

Patricia, a devout Christian, served as a church Elder, church Secretary, among other church responsibilities at Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church. Singing was a true love of Patricia, beginning as a young girl and eventually leading to a music scholarship from Doane College, and a 40+ year “career” as a member of her church choir.

Patricia is preceded in death by her husband William D. McCloud, mother Lucille Hampel, father Paul Hampel, sister Jean Eiguren, and her uncle Herbert Chism.

Patricia is survived by her three children: Scott (Elizabeth) McCloud, Dan McCloud, and Sally (Randy) Routh, seven grandchildren: Chris (Audrey) McCloud, Danielle (Tim) Gardner, Joshua and Tyler McCloud, Samantha (Chad) Ro, Ryan and Stephanie Routh, and three great-grandchildren: Mikayla McCloud, Emma, and Ryan Gardner. Three nieces and one nephew also survive Patricia: Debi Marts, Yo Curtis, Barbara (Stuart) Coffey, and James Oliver.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Patricia on Tuesday, September 30th at 2:00 PM. The service will be held at Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church, located at 17440 Brookside Boulevard NE, Lake Forest Park, WA 98155.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Patricia’s honor to Lake Forest Park Presbyterian Church, P.E.O. International’s Cottey College, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
