Lance Foster, 64, of White Cloud, KS, passed away January 12, 2025 at White Cloud. He was born June 2, 1960 at Whittier, CA to Gary and Rita (Pippin) Foster.
He married Lisa Nelmida in 2002 at Anchorage, AK.
Lance was raised at Helena, MT and graduated from Helena High School in 1978. He attended the Institute of American Indians Art and later earned a bachelor degree from University of Montana at Missoula. Later he earned Master’s Degrees in Archeology and Anthropology as well as Landscape Archetectur from Iowa State University. He worked for the National Forest Service in Montana, The National Park Service in Sante Fe, NM and was the Director of Native Rights in Honolulu, HI. In 2013 they moved to White Cloud where he became the Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska. He was also vice chair of the tribal council for one term. He was baptized Catholic and was a member of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska.
Lance is survived by his wife, Lisa of White Cloud, brothers, Bryan of Port Angeles, WA, Garth and his wife Gloria of Helena, sisters, Amber Ireland and her husband Scott of Helena, Brandi Brockbank and her husband Kevin of Spokane, WA, nephews and niece, Dempsey, Lily and Eamonn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Foster has been cremated and no services will be held at this time.
