Irene Heineman

Irene Heineman, 101 of Wahoo/Fremont died Monday, December 23, 2024, in Fremont. Irene was born February 23, 1923, in Auburn, Nebraska to Walter and Cora (Spradling) Larkin. She married Jean Heineman on June 30, 1947, in Verdon, Nebraska.                                                                            

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wahoo. She loved spending time with her family, was an excellent cook, enjoyed playing cards with her family, was an avid bridge player, an exceptional seamstress, and loved to crochet, knit and do needlepoint. Irene and Jean had many enjoyable times with their family and friends at Hilltop Country Club where she helped organize many parties and kept score for numerous golf tournaments.              

Survivors include sons Bill Heineman and Don Heineman, both of Fremont, and former Governor Dave (wife Sally Ganem) Heineman of Fremont; daughter Ege (husband Larry) Reichert of Georgetown, Texas; sister Evelyn Davidson of Las Cruces, New Mexico; brother Bob (wife Karen) Larkin of Tucson, Arizona; sisters-in-law Elaine Heineman and Opal Frye, both of Falls City; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Jean; a sister and three brothers. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, December 28, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Friday, 5-7 pm at the Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home. Interment will be in Sunrise North Cemetery. Memorials have been established to First United Methodist Church in Wahoo.
