Highway 75 accident in Nemaha Co., NE results in Humboldt woman’s death

According to accident reports received from the Nemaha County, Nebraska Sheriff’s Department at 4:14 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls regarding a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 75 and 723 Road, south of Auburn, in rural Nemaha County.
A southbound Chevrolet Malibu, driven a 15 year old female of Humboldt, Nebraska, crossed into the Northbound lane of Highway 75 to avoid a vehicle slowing to turn onto 723 Road. The Malibu was struck on the passenger side by a Northbound Kenworth semi-truck driven by Darryl Jenkins of Coralville, lowa. The 41-year-old back seat passenger, Amber Booth was ejected from the Malibu and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver and the front seat passenger were transported to the Nemaha County Hospital. The driver was then transferred to an Omaha Hospital by medical helicopter for treatment. Seat belts were not in use by occupants of the Malibu. Jenkins was utilizing his seat belt.
The crash is being investigated by the Nemaha County Sheriff’s Office. Agencies responding include, Auburn Fire and Rescue, Nemaha Fire and Rescue and Stella Fire.
