Family and friends will gather to celebrate the extraordinary life of Isaac Nathaniel Deckinger on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a Sharing of Memories time commencing at 3:00 p.m.
Isaac Nathaniel Deckinger, 31, of Kansas City, MO formerly of Washington, D.C. passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024, at his residence with his family by his side. Isaac was diagnosed with a brain tumor on April 17, 2023. He was born July 2, 1992 in Falls City, NE, the youngest son of Harlan and Susan (Zwahl) Deckinger.
Isaac graduated from high school in Hiawatha, KS and attended Ft. Hays State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. A brilliant mind with a hard work ethic, Isaac had a passion and love for his career with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), where he served as a data analyst. During his time with FEMA, he met many life-long friends and was fortunate to live in several different cities. He began his career in Kansas City, spent several years in New York, NY and possibly his favorite assignment was his time spent in Washington, D.C.
Isaac enjoyed time with family and friends. He was an avid reader, was always learning and educating himself. Isaac had a unique interest in sailboats and the water, and dreamed of owning his own sailboat. He lived a full life in just 31 short years and he will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his parents, Harlan and Susan Deckinger of Hiawatha, KS; Sister, Cassie Tholen and husband, Mike of Wichita, KS; two brothers, John Schilling and wife, Michele of Leavenworth, KS and Rick Schilling and wife, Lynze of Kansas City, MO; and nine beloved nieces and nephews.
