Shirley Vice, 86, of Stella, NE, passed away September 30, 2023 at Falls City, NE. She was born January 26, 1937 at Peach Orchard, AR to Charlie Bragg and Levada Lewis.
She married Donald C. Vice on October 17, 1954 at Shubert, NE. He passed away April 26, 2019.
Shirley lived in Peach Orchard and Kennet, MO until moving to Independence, KS with her mother where she worked at the corner drug store until moving to Nebraska with her husband. After a few years they started Don Vice and Sons Construction and she worked side by side with him. He always told people she was the best help he ever had. She then went to work at Falls City Meat Company for fourteen years and then at the sewing factory in Auburn, NE. She then retired due to her health. She was a great entertainer and loved to bless people with her great meals and baking, especially her pies.
She loved to shop and was very good at it. One time on a trip to the Holy Land with other family and friends, they voted her top of the list for shopping. She was a super wife and devoted mother. After God, her children came first. She loved gardening and her beautiful flowers. You could look at her flowers and almost feel a touch of heaven in their beauty. She was a member of Good News Assembly of God Church for years and the Shubert American Legion Auxiliary.
Shirley is survived by her children, Christy Berglund and her partner Ray Lovett of Stella, Montana and his wife Patty of Shubert, Noha and his wife Carrie of Stella, Zina Dotson and her husband Kenny of Shubert, fourteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Zac and Laythan, grandson, Kaeleb Vice, son-in-law, Stanley Berglund, half-brothers, Bill and Max Lewis, half-sisters, Leona Turner and Christine Burton and several other in-laws.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Good News Assembly of God Church with Pastor Tim Boatright officiating. Interment will be in Harris Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
