Ruth Cromer, 93, of Falls City, NE, passed away April 12, 2023 at Falls City. She was born January 1, 1930 at Rulo, NE to John Henry and Clara (Brooks) Stevens, Sr.
She married Jay Cromer on July 3, 1946 at Hiawatha, KS. He passed away in 1985.
Ruth was raised at Rulo and when married the couple established their home in Falls City. In 1950 they purchased a farm in Mound City, MO and moved there. They lived in Horton, KS before moving back to Falls City in 1960. She helped manage her husband’s construction business, Jay Cromer Construction. She also did exterior and interior house painting, wood trim finishing and hung wall paper. She raised AKC Pugs and enjoyed quilting and gardening. She was a hard worker but loved to fish.
Ruth is survived by her children, David of Hiawatha, KS, Clara Brown and her husband Ronald of Falls City, Mark of Kansas City, MO, brother, Otho Stevens of Horton, KS, ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, as son, Stan, brothers, Curtis, Robert, John Jr., Chester, Harvey, Floyd and Clarence, sisters, Delila, Chlorene, Emma Florence, brother-in-law, Charles Cromer and a sister-in-law, Bessie.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3-4:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
