Rose Marie (Lewis) Rears, 91, of Humboldt, Nebraska, was born on April 30, 19430, in Barada, Nebraska, to Guy Sutton and Ethel (Howard) Lewis. She was raised on her family farm and attended Bratton Union Consolidated School and graduated with the class of 1948. On July 16, 1948, Rose Marie was united in marriage to Donald “Don” Rears in Humboldt, Nebraska. The couple raised three children, Shari, Donna and Ronald, on a farm four and a half miles west of Stella, Nebraska. Rose Marie was a long-time member of the Humboldt Rebekah’s Crescent Lodge #100, where she served in many different capacities over the years.
Rose Marie passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska, having reached the earthly age of ninety-one years, nine months and twenty days. She was preceded in death by his parents, husband Don Rears, brothers: Paul (Margaret) Lewis, Harlan (Millie) Lewis, Tom (Janet) Lewis, Donald (Pauline) Lewis and Gary Lewis, her sister Martha Lewis and brothers-in-law Jerry Mehlin and Dean Whitfield.
Rose Marie is survived by her children: Shari Parisi and husband Nick of Banning, CA; Donna Arandus of Grand Island, NE; Ronald Lewis Rears of Humboldt, NE; 7 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, sisters: Bonnie Mehlin of Fremont, NE; Betty Whitfield of Bellevue, NE; sisters-in-law: Margie Lewis of Humboldt, NE; Jeane Kuhlmann of Humboldt, NE; Mary Lou Haynes of Auburn, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska, with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.
Inurnment will be at the Stella Cemetery in Stella, Nebraska, at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Humboldt Fire and Rescue Squad.
