Falls City School Board acts on policy referring to Sacred Heart’s usage of Jug Brown Stadium

Last Monday, August 9, the Falls City Public Schools held its regular monthly meeting.  During this meeting, under section 1. B) Final Reading on Policy Review and Revisions 1) 5340 Leasing, Rental, Use of School Facilities, two options were given to vote on for the use of Jug Brown Stadium/Thomas Memorial Field by Falls City Sacred Heart.

Option 1. It is the policy of the Falls City Public Schools to make Jug Brown/Thomas Field Facilities available for the non-public school (Sacred Heart) use when the use does not conflict with any scheduled public school function.  The facility usage guidelines for the non-public school will be: a) All games on the field will be scheduled no earlier than 6:00 P.M. (The field is available at 6:00 P.M. to allow for Falls City Public School to practice at the stadium in advance) Not to include playoff games.  If the field is not in use, earlier use times, Junior Varsity, and Jr. High games to be permitted as scheduled through the Activities Director.

b) Varsity practices will be permitted on the week of a home game only and limited to one practice.  To be scheduled through the Athletic Director.

c) Locker room usage will be provided in the main high school building facility

d) Objects that penetrate the field turf surface are strictly prohibited.  (Ex. Gutter nails for eight-man field boundary, tents, etc.)

Option 2.  It is the policy of the Falls City Public Schools to make Jug Brown Stadium/Thomas Memorial Field facilities available for the non-public school (Sacred Heart) use when that use does not conflict with any scheduled public school function.  The facility usage guidelines for the non-public school will be:

a) All games on the field will be scheduled no earlier than 6:00 P.M. (The field is available at 6:00 P.M. to allow for Falls City Public Schools to practice at the stadium in advance.

b) Varsity only games will be permitted.

c) Varsity practices will be permitted on the week of a home game only and limited to one practice.  To be scheduled through the Activity Director.

d) Locker room usage will be provided in the main high school building facility.

e) Objects that penetrate the field turf surface are strictly prohibited (Ex. Gutter nails for eight-man field boundary, tents, etc.)

The Board voted and approved Option one on a 6-0 vote allowing the facilities use by Sacred Heart’s varsity, junior varsity and junior high football teams for the football teams.
