Ralph Burns, Sr., 77, of Salem, NE, passed away July 5, 2021 at Salem. He was born March 7, 1944 at Verdon, NE to Clyde and Vivian (Arnold) Burns.
He married Delma Krueger on November 27, 1967 at Hiawatha, KS. She passed away November 27, 2012
Ralph enlisted in the U. S. Army on December 5, 1967 at Fort Lewis, WA. He served in Vietnam earning a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 6 Bronze Service Stars and a Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device. He was honorably discharged on December 4, 1970 at Ft. Carson, CO.
Ralph was raised in Salem and graduated Salem High School in 1962. When honorably discharged he returned to Salem. He farmed and was employed by Capitol Contractors in Lincoln and Ariens in Auburn until retiring in 2009.
Ralph is survived by his sons, clyde of Tecumseh, NE, Chad and his wife Mary of Dallas, TX, Clay of Salem, Ralph, Jr. of Verdon, Brianna Holloway and her husband Richard of Charlotte, NC, Britinna Elrod and her husband Jason of Dawson, brothers, Roland and his wife Wilma of Salem, Roy of Salem, Tom And his wife Anna of Dawson, Sisters, Dorothy Costa of Utah, Carol Clark of San Antonio, TX, Frances Burns of Falls City, ten grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Dick, Russ and Ray Burns and a sister, JoAnn Weber
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July14, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home officiated by Clair Hoesing. Inurnment will be in Maple Cemetery. Military graveside honors by United States Army Honor Guard, assisted by the Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
Viewing will be on Sunday from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral and begin at 9:00 AM on Monday.
